Kuwait Cricket Club is the official governing body for the game of cricket in association with Public Authority of Sport (PAS) ,Kuwait Olympic Committee (KOC), ACC & International Cricket Council (ICC) organized the finals of Summer League 2019 at Kuwait Entertainment City Cricket Ground.
Group A:
MGA VS Kuwait U19
MGA and Kuwait U19 locked horns in the Summer League finals (Group A) in Doha on Sep 20, 2019 and it was MGA who won the toss and elected to bat first. Sibtain Raza and Adnan Idrees opened the innings for MGA whereas for Kuwait U19, Abdulrahman bowled really well and succeeded to get the breakthrough in the first over by dismissing Sibtain Raza. Adnan Idrees and Captain Ali Butt had a brief partnership and with Shiraz Khan (48) and Aphsal Ashraf’s (44) excellent batting, MGA managed to put total on the board 170 / 5 (20 overs). While chasing, Kuwait U19 Openers Meet Bhavsar and Gokul Sunil Kumar gave a quick start to U19, but the tempo was not maintained. U19 was able to score only 130/8 (20 Overs) with Meet (22), Gokul (17), Skipper A. Sadiq (15), and Govind scoring 26 runs. Shiraz Khan bowled really well for MGA and took 2 important wickets of Meet Bhavsar and Abdul Sadiq. Basharat Ali was the pick of the bowlers with a bowling figure of 4-0-22-4. Man of the Match was given to Shiraz Khan who scored 48 overs and took 2 wickets. MGA emerged as the winners with a 40 run margin victory over Kuwait U19s to lift the cup.
Group B:
Maahas Dragons VS Saipem
Summer League Final Group B played between Maahas Dragons and Saipem on Sep 06, 2019. Saipem CC’s Captain, Stanley Cherian, won the toss and elected to bat with perfect weather conditions. Diju Xavier and Edson Silva opened the innings for Saipem but could not manage to give the explosive starts, which they were giving throughout the tournament. It was Imran Iqbal, who is a left arm spinner, that came into attack and bowled 2nd over of the innings and took both Edson’s and Diju’s wickets. Saipem was unable to find the rhythm afterwards yet Naveej (24) and Aurangzeb (49) did well the team to take 123 in 20 overs.
Imran Iqbal was the pick of the bowlers with a figure of 4-0-9-3.
Maahas Dragons openers Khalid Butt and Nazarudeen started at the crease to chase 123 and gave a good start for their team. Khalid Butt was confident and scored 33 yet Saipem found their way into the match. When the match was in the balance, Mustanser Bhatt who scored 47* played a defining role to win the match for Maahas Dragons. Maahas Dragon won the final by 6 wickets in 17.5 Overs.
Khalid Butt was declared Man of the Match for his 33 runs and 1 wicket.
